Application Deadlines
December 1st– priority deadline (early acceptance) for receipt of all application materials for consideration.
Rolling admission through June 1st of application year.
Application Requirements
(1) B.A. or B.S. from a regionally accredited institution or the equivalent for international students with the following pre-requisites (with grade of C or higher):
BIOL 1610. Principles of Biology I*
BIOL 1615. Principles of Biology I Lab*
BIOL 2320. Human Anatomy*
BIOL 2325. Human Anatomy Lab*
BIOL 2420. Human Physiology*
BIOL 2425. Human Physiology Lab*
CHEM 1010 Introduction to Chemistry* (Lab recommended but not required)
or CHEM 1210. Principles of Chemistry I* (Lab recommended but not required)
PHYS 1010. Elementary Physics * (Lab recommended but not required)
or PHYS 2010. College Physics* (Lab recommended but not required) or XSCI 3730 Biomechanics
MATH 1040. Introduction to Statistics or XSCI Measurement, Research, and Statistics
PSY 1100. Human Development Through Lifespan
or FSHD 2010. Human Development Lifespan
(*an equivalent course from other institutions)
(2) Undergraduate cumulative GPA of 2.75 or greater
(3) 25 hours of documented athletic training observation experience
(4) Submit a Personal statement of why you have chosen to pursue a career as an Athletic Trainer
(6) Must pass a criminal background check prior to clinical education experiences (prior to Fall semester)
(7) Submit a signed Technical Standards form within Complio
(8) Submit official transcripts of undergraduate degree and prerequisite courses
(9) Submit two (2) confidential letters of recommendation. Preference will be given to letters of recommendation that address the applicants academic experience.
(10) All international students must demonstrate language proficiency in Standard American English.
(11)Complete a GRIT Scale prior to interview with MAT program admission committee
(12) Complete an interview with MAT program admission committee
Note: GRE scores are recommended by not required.
Classes begin Summer (2nd block-late June) of the application year!
Application Process
To apply click on the APPLY NOW button on this page. During this process, you must submit all the required materials along with the names and contact information for three professional references. Once materials have been received and you pay the $50 application fee an initial review of your application will be completed by the program director. The program director Dr. Peter Neibert will contact you if you have missing application items. Those students that have successfully met all the admission criteria will be contacted to schedule an interview with the MAT program admission committee, which consist of two or three faculty, MAT program clinical preceptor. and a current MAT program student. Students will be sent the Grit Scale to complete and return prior to their scheduled interview time. The students will be interviewed using a standard list of interview questions. Once the interviews are completed, each of the candidates will be scored using an established MAT Program Application rubric. Once the committee has decided the admission status of the student, the student will be sent a decision letter via email.
