What Does The Job Entail?

The Paramedic must have excellent judgement and be able to prioritize decisions and act quickly in the best interest of the patient, must be self-disciplined, able to develop patient rapport, interview hostile patients, maintain safe distance, and recognize and utilize communication unique to diverse multicultural groups and ages within those groups.

How Do I Apply?

Welcome to the Dixie State University (DSU) Paramedic program admissions process.  The following will help you understand the requirements for admission and guide you through the process.

Please Note

  • Certification as a State of Utah EMT or AEMT is required prior to the beginning of the Paramedic program in January 2020. For more information on Utah certification/reciprocity click here. This certification must remain valid for the course of the program.
  • To be considered for admission to the Paramedic program (and/or the Associate of Applied Science in Emergency Medical Services), an applicant must first be admitted as a Dixie State University student.
  • Everything one needs to know about applying to DSU can be found here.
  • These professional programs at Dixie State University are full time programs that require an application process. Once the necessary prerequisites are completed, a student may apply. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Once admitted to the Paramedic program, students may pursue either a Paramedic Certificate of Proficiency or an Associate of Applied Science in Emergency Medical Services.
