- Certification as a State of Utah EMT or AEMT is required prior to the beginning of the Paramedic program in January 2020. For more information on Utah certification/reciprocity click here. This certification must remain valid for the course of the program.
- To be considered for admission to the Paramedic program (and/or the Associate of Applied Science in Emergency Medical Services), an applicant must first be admitted as a Dixie State University student.

- These professional programs at Dixie State University are full time programs that require an application process. Once the necessary prerequisites are completed, a student may apply. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Once admitted to the Paramedic program, students may pursue either a Paramedic Certificate of Proficiency or an Associate of Applied Science in Emergency Medical Services.
What Does The Job Entail?
The Paramedic must have excellent judgement and be able to prioritize decisions and act quickly in the best interest of the patient, must be self-disciplined, able to develop patient rapport, interview hostile patients, maintain safe distance, and recognize and utilize communication unique to diverse multicultural groups and ages within those groups.
